John Valentine grew up in Edgewater Maryland. The son of a gunsmith, John enjoyed hunting, target shooting, archery, and the occasional video game. As John grew older, his love for gaming grew with him. At the ripe old age of 25, he assembled his first PC from a box of spare parts a friend gave him and ran out to purchase a copy of Window 3.1 and Ultimate Doom. He also enjoyed Zork, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, and Pong.
Fast forward to 1999, John quit his career as a master auto mechanic and became a software developer. He wanted to get into game development, but God had a different plan for John - little did he know. John found it difficult to break into the software game and took a job as a network administrator for an insurance company in Annapolis MD. John didn't know it at the time but God was preparing him for a ministry. John worked hard and God blessed him as he increased in knowledge and became stronger in spirit.
In 2000, John started Gamers4Christ at his church. In those days LAN parties would run all night! Thats right, G4C used to do lock-ins. Gamers4Christ grew over the years, and God blessed John with a job in the software game. John used his new found love for web development to start Gamers4Christ.org and God blessed all that John did as the community bagan to grow by the numbers. It seemed that God was adding to their numbers monthly.
Then in 2005, John partnered with James and moved the ministry to First Baptist Church of Edgewater. God once again blessed Gamers4Christ and the work that James and John put into the ministry. That is a whole other story. If you live in the Baltimore/Washington Metropoliten area, come see what God is doing at a Gamers4Christ LAN Party. Come and see for yourself if God can change your world and bring you closer to Himself through a personal relationship with Christ.
